Not enough light
A Norfolk pine that droops, stretches, and leans hard toward the window is almost always under-lit.
Diagnosis
Not enough light
What's happening
Norfolk Island Pine needs bright light to hold its branches up in firm, even tiers. In a dim spot the plant stretches toward the brightest source, new growth comes in thin and widely spaced, and the branches go soft and droopy instead of holding their classic symmetrical shape. Over time the trunk can lean permanently.
How to fix it
Move the plant to the brightest indirect light you can give it — directly in front of an east or west window, or near a bright south window with a sheer curtain. A few hours of gentle direct sun is fine. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every week or two so it grows evenly instead of leaning. If your space is genuinely dim, a full-spectrum grow light is often the only way to keep the branches firm and the growth symmetrical.
What fixes it
- A full-spectrum LED grow light — A full-spectrum grow light gives a Norfolk pine the bright light it needs to hold firm, even branches in a dim room.
If that doesn't fix it
This is general guidance based on common symptoms; individual plants vary.
