Not enough light
A Peperomia Hope that stretches and spaces its leaves far apart is reaching for light it isn't getting.
Diagnosis
Not enough light
What's happening
Peperomia Hope is compact and bushy in good light, but in dim conditions it stretches its stems toward the nearest window, leaving long bare gaps between small, widely spaced leaves — a habit called legginess. The plant is spending its energy reaching rather than filling out, so growth comes in thin and trailing instead of full and round.
How to fix it
Move the plant to a brighter spot with plenty of bright, indirect light — close to an east or north window, or filtered south/west light, but out of harsh direct sun that can scorch the leaves. If your space is genuinely dim, a full-spectrum grow light makes a real difference. Already-stretched stems won't shorten, but new growth in better light will come in compact, and you can pinch the leggy tips to encourage a bushier shape.
What fixes it
- A full-spectrum LED grow light — A full-spectrum grow light gives the steady, gentle light a Peperomia Hope needs to stay compact and stop stretching.
If that doesn't fix it
